– A career as a Locksmith is demanding, but primarily responsible for being skilled at their trade in knowing the art and technical side of locksmithing. They are responsible for handling customers one-on-one primarily and can be in the shop or out in the field. The type of jobs are different, but primarily mobile lockout, residential rekeys, and some safe moving.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
-Able to handle mobile lockouts
-Installs, repairs, rebuilds and services mechanical, electrical or computerized locking devices
-Disassembles locks and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs and other parts
-Performs required and preventive maintenance on card “swipe” locks
-Inserts new or repaired tumblers into lock to change combination
-Cuts new or duplicate keys and key cards; generates master for key cards
-Moves lock pick in cylinder to open door locks without keys; opens safe locks by drilling
-Monitors and maintains inventory of cut keys, blanks and locks; generates requisitions for replenishment as necessary
-Promotes positive public/employee relations at all times
-Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility
-Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned
-High School diploma or technical certificate required
-A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
-Must possess basic mechanical aptitude, bondable, well organized and attentive to detail
-Valid Drivers License
-Must pass a drug test.
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; and taste or smell.
-The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
-Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
